Insurance Addition
Recently, I posted about getting a whole house generator. It’s been installed and is ready to provide power when needed. The installers recommended I contact my homeowners insurance company and make sure it would be covered by my insurance. They suggested I might need to do an addition to my insurance.
I did and discovered that it would be covered as personal property under my policy. But, the agent asked for a copy of the completed contract showing installation as well as pictures. I did that too.
This was a lesson for me as I really hadn’t thought about insurance coverage, and just assumed it would be covered. And, hubby is saving for a greenhouse next year and we’ll probably need to do the same process.
The moral of this story is that if you add something to your home and/or property, it wouldn’t hurt to contact your insurance company to make sure your new item(s) are covered.
