God Was Responsible
One thing I have not talked about in my book is the effect that God had on my recovery from debt. I truly believe that God was responsible for my financial successes and very personal. Whether you’re a believer or not, there were too many coincidences for me not to believe God was guiding me.
When I was at my worst, right after my husband died, I didn’t know which end was up. I went to my spiritual leader and asked what to do. He was a good guide to pointing me in the right direction for help with my financial issues. He sent me to a congregation member who was a lawyer for guidance. That person recommended the bankruptcy and foreclosure that I’ve written about in my book.
Spoiler alert! If you haven’t read the book, skip to the Moral of the Story.
The first thing was, as I mentioned, the lawyer who recommended bankruptcy and foreclosure. Then, a friend of mine told me about a house for rent across the street from her just at the point where I needed to move. Next a postcard arrived. The postcard invited me to a free seminar about bankruptcy recovery. I went to the seminar, bought the course, and followed the advice. That advice allowed me to purchase a home, only a year and a half after the bankruptcy discharge. Next, a friend recommended a financial planner. I liked what I heard and signed up immediately. He provided a ton of guidance that allowed me to retire comfortably a mere ten years later. Next, people recommended books on financial planning and budgeting that I read and learned from. Lastly, I was provided with a buyout at a time when if I took it, I could afford to retire. I don’t believe all these things were coincidental. I believe God put these people and actions in front of me at the right time.
Moral of the story:
I wholeheartedly believe God was responsible for a lot of my financial success. He put people in front of me at the right time I would need them for my next step. And, He also provided me with the intelligence to learn from those who had already walked the walk I was on. Whether you believe or not, something other than coincidence helped me along my journey. I believe it was God.
